Same here. Lately I've been getting a lot of LJ "friends" with pretty random-looking names whose profiles tell me nothing about them and who aren't friends of my friends. (They may have friended my friends, but not vice versa.) I've taken to ignoring them. I do sort of wonder who they are, though.

I don't friend completely random people; I have added people based on "s/he writes interesting stuff" even if I don't know who they are in real life. (Especially since some of the people I would count as knowing "in real life" I haven't met in person either, only elsenet.)

It's the people with "real" names that aren't even their real names that annoy me! You think that you don't know them and then it turns out that you do.
