If you friend me, and I can't work out who you are in real life from your LJ profile or your posts, I'm highly unlikely to friend you back.

Same here. Lately I've been getting a lot of LJ "friends" with pretty random-looking names whose profiles tell me nothing about them and who aren't friends of my friends. (They may have friended my friends, but not vice versa.) I've taken to ignoring them. I do sort of wonder who they are, though.
