Just had an email from the Southwark News, asking if they can print some of my Rotherhithe wildlife photos in this week's issue. They're not offering any money, but I told them they can go ahead. I suppose I'd better pick up a copy on Friday, although I did ask them to post me one.

If we'd had a postal delivery before leaving home yesterday, I would now be reading the eagerly-awaited seventh and final volume in a long-running series. Yes, my copy of The Sons of Heaven shipped from Amazon on Wednesday, but I don't have it yet.

Amphibians: 2 Common Toad (I went out after dark, for a change, and there were dozens of the blighters).

Do not click through on the cut tag if you have frog fear. )

Butterflies: 11 Meadow Brown

And it's a terrible photo, especially since it was right in front of a buddleia flower and doesn't really have a big purple belly, but here's a blackcap.

Birds: 48 House Martin. Butterflies: 9 Tortoiseshell. No photos of either, I'm afraid.
