Here's a grey squirrel coming to check if I have any food for him.




A black-headed gull in full breeding plumage:

Species added since last time: Pochard, Little Grebe (neither of which I got last year), Redwing, Red Admiral. That makes 43.

Hmm - the Red Admiral's we have are actually red - at least in part. But a Google shows there's a specific NZ Red Admiral...

which explains it. (Though not its Latin name, which I'm not going to look into...)

Why isn't yours called the Orange Admiral?
