As many people have reported, LiveJournal Chat is in alpha test. Point a Jabber client (I'm using iChat) at livejournal.com, using @livejournal.com as the username and your LJ password, and it will add all your friends as chat friends. Or you can talk to me as drplokta@livejournal.com via other Jabber servers.

This sounds so simple, but I'm not understanding what I need to do. What version of iChat are you using? Is it possible that my version of iChat (iChat AV 2.1) is just too old? Or am I?

If anyone can save me, Dr Plokta can!

Version 3.1.4 works. It must be good because it's pi. It comes with Tiger.

I suspect it's too old. As far as I recall, iChat introduced Jabber support in Tiger, so if you're on an older OS X version then it won't work for you.
