*hooting with laughter*

That's fabulous! Especially the bit about the infinite time-loop when getting close to Egan's nominal address. Bwahaha! Especially funny for those of us who belong to the Egan_gestalt_being.

Well, as you probably know, Greg, despite being Australian and all, has never been to a con. Nobody seems to have ever met him, and there are rumours that he uploaded himself years ago and since been traversing the internet, posting the occasional newsgroup posts.

But... since nobody has seen Greg, it's entirely possible that We Are Greg. When I say We, I really mean me, [livejournal.com profile] deborahb, [livejournal.com profile] alinta_thornton, [livejournal.com profile] ben_peek and Wendy_winolj, who are the downloaded avatars of the uploaded Greg_Entity, making us the Greg_Egan_Gestalt. Or so we decided last year.

The mere fact that nobody has ever met Greg makes the whole infitnite time-loop joke from Damien Broderick funny enough, but as one of the Gestalt...well. You had to be there, except that you might have ended up with reversed internal organs.

Or something.

I have met someone who says he has met Egan...

This would be more impressive if he hadn't posted to Livejournal within the last couple of hours...

I sincerely hope that supreme post-human beings have better things to do with their time...

Maybe they do have better things to do with their timee, but their supreme post-human time management is so good that they do that too.

You know, this really proves me utterly limaceous as I have no idea who those people are, besides possibly authors.
