It now seems clear that the governance of the Iron Islands derives from a mis-reading of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. They got the bit about "Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony", except that they read "not" as "and".

In other news, I have celebrated the arrival of summer by turning the heating back on.
