If you know my home phone number, you don't any more. We've been getting a lot of financial services calls from overseas numbers, so we're changing our landline number from tomorrow, and telling the new one to as few people as possible. My mobile number is unchanged.

We've been suffering from this as well. I don't know if they use lists of numbers or just dial at random until they get a response.

It's not random dialling, because they generally ask for me by name. Best guess is that they've got me from my former employer's register of shareholders.

I had a look in Mrs Fermat's address book to see if the old number needed crossing out. Couldn't find you for a few seconds as you are listed as having a surname that isn't yours but starts with the same letter and could be a sore point [clue] ...

And we didn't have your landline number anyway.
