The Wrong Kind Of Trains

After behaving themselves for a few weeks (even during the heat-related speed limits), the trains are all over the place today. So far, I've made three journeys. East Croydon to Kings Cross Thameslink -- train broke down at Farringdon. I don't know how long it was stuck there, because after five minutes I gave up and took the Underground instead. Euston to Leighton Buzzard -- fifteen minutes late due to a track fault at Bletchley. Leighton Buzzard to Euston -- most services cancelled, and the one I was on overcrowded and fifteen minutes late because of a fatality at Harrow & Wealdstone.

Maybe I'll take a bus back to Croydon tonight....

Paging The Village Barber

Having recently been browbeaten persuaded by flickgc and at least one fishlifter, I have actually got round to joining They Came And Shaved Us and booking a hotel room. (Six more memberships left for anyone who is similarly dilatory).

I'd now like someone to reassure me that I won't actually be the oldest person at the convention. I'm too young to be an old fogey. At least, I had better be too young to be an old fogey.

I will, of course, be carefully assessing the convention's narrative momentum.
