This dragonfly landed for long enough to let me get close.

I can't see the wings clearly enough to be sure, and the eyes are inconclusive, but the colouring suggests it is a damselfly rather than a dragonfly. How big was it? If a couple of inches rather than about 4 inches it was a damselfly.

It was more than a couple of inches. I'm pretty sure it was a male Common Darter.
