Birds: 44 Swallow -- only one, flying high up, so I guess it's not summer yet.

Wandering around the ecology park this morning, I heard what sounded like a magpie and a cat having a fight. But when I got to the source of the noise, it turned out to be a small brown bird. Research on the RSPB website convinces me that it must be a Sedge Warbler, bird number 43 for my list. No photo, alas.

Butterflies: 5 Large White (no photo), 6 Comma ( photo below )

Birds: 42 Blackcap, my first summer visitor (no photo yet)
Butterflies: 4 Brimstone (no photo, but how many big pale yellow butterflies are there?)

So the total is now 49 -- 42 birds, two mammals, one amphibian and four butterflies.

Butterflies: 2 Speckled Wood, 3 Common Blue.
