2. What are you reading now?
Coalescent by Stephen Baxter, Oranges by John McPhee and just started In the Hall of the Martian Kings by John Barnes (not to be confused with the John Varley collection with (in the UK) the same title) following a lunch-break visit to Forbidden Planet.
3. What do you plan to read next?

sbisson in the pub last night) and Omega by Jack McDevitt (which braxa says is out in the US, but isn't yet in New Worlds or FP). And doubtless something from the tottering unread pile, which is much larger than usual.

Omega by Jack McDevitt (see above). 1610 by Mary Gentle. A Feast for Crows by George R R Martin.
5. What would you recommend for others to read?
Far to much to metion here, but to pick a few at random: A Game of Thrones by George R R Martin, Permutation City by Greg Egan, Five Hundred Years After by Steven Brust (it helps if you've read The Phoenix Guards first) and Gödel, Escher, Bach by Douglas Hofstadter.
6. What's your favourite book from childhood?
When does childhood end? Probably The Lord of the Rings.
7. What book last made you laugh?
Eats, Shoots and Leaves
8. What book last made you weep?
Books don't make me weep. Unless someone drops a Peter F Hamilton novel on my toe, but I don't recall that ever happening.
9. What book last made you angry?
A Babylon 5 novel whose author had read that the surface temperature of Mars was around 240K and had misread that as Centigrade, and so had Mars as a very hot place to be. Years ago -- books don't make me angry very often.
